First, the question: does Zero Sugar wine actually exist? The answer is simple: yes. A few years ago, we at PURE The Winery began producing and selling a range of Zero Sugar wines. There’s a growing group of people who want to enjoy a good glass of wine but prefer to avoid the downsides — one of which is sugar.
Sugar can be an issue, especially for people who need to avoid it for health reasons. For example, individuals with diabetes need to maintain balanced blood sugar levels. If you’re trying to lose weight and want to avoid sugars, wine without sugar is a great alternative to sugar-rich wine. Finally, Zero Sugar wine is also an attractive option for those who want to limit their calorie intake, such as athletes who want to enjoy a glass of wine in the most responsible way possible.
Clearly, wine without sugar is an appealing alternative for many people in various situations. With PURE The Winery’s wines, you have a Zero Sugar option for red wine, white wine, rosé wine, as well as sparkling white and rosé.

At PURE The Winery, you’ll find five types of Zero Sugar wines, all of which share the following characteristics:
• 0 grams of sugar
• 0 grams of carbohydrates
• At least 30% fewer calories
• 100% free of animal products, making them suitable for vegetarians and vegans
But how is it possible? A flavorful, award-winning wine with no sugar. Here’s how we do it:
Zero Sugar Wine
Sugar is present in almost everything today, from cookies to bread, and yes, even in wine. According to the Dutch Nutrition Center, a 150 ml glass of wine contains an average of 8.9 grams of sugar — that’s more than two sugar cubes per glass.
PURE The Winery removes sugar using a unique and traditional fermentation technique, which naturally converts all sugars into alcohol.
The grapes used for PURE The Winery’s wines are carefully selected and picked at the perfect moment. A grape contains fermentable sugars (which can turn into alcohol) and non-fermentable sugars.
Our winemaker, Daniele Cusmano, ferments the fermentable sugars into alcohol as usual. For the residual sugars that can’t ferment, Daniele has developed his own unique fermentation technique to naturally convert these remaining sugars into alcohol as well.
This is why we are extremely proud to display our nutritional label with 0 grams of sugar and 0 grams of carbohydrates on every bottle.
At Least 30% Fewer Calories Compared to Regular Wines
Another benefit of the absence of sugar in Zero Sugar wine is that it naturally contains fewer calories. Since sugars, carbohydrates, and alcohol contribute to calorie content, a wine without sugars and carbohydrates means fewer calories in your glass. PURE The Winery’s wines contain at least 30% fewer calories compared to wines with ≥12% alcohol, carbohydrates, and sugar.
10.5% Alcohol
PURE The Winery’s wines contain no sugar, no carbohydrates, and therefore at least 30% fewer calories. However, all PURE The Winery wines contain 10.5% alcohol.
